What puts Silk in first place for me is the smooth interaction and a little more settings customize than Firefox.
I do wish I could set the home page. Both are speech-to-text enabled so I can pretty successfully enter URL's or searched by voice. On a product like FireTV I think this is absolutely essential. There are still lots of apps that are not. In user experience Silk seems to operate more smoothly than Firefox.
Not by a lot but enough for me to notice on my 1st gen Fire TV. Maybe the newer and more powerful models will negate that difference. Maybe I just have new model envy. Silk does what it does well considering it's on a FireTV. Not all that many options really. So being the best in a limited environment gets Silk 5 stars from me. It's a little better than Firefox and a whole lot better than nothing.

As I'm sure others have discovered, this browser is a poor imitation, very limited in its capabilities and also quite hard to find after the recent disaster of an upgrade for the Show 15 which was the FireTV 'upgrade'.
If Amazon just let us have chrome, without restrictions, this would finally make web content usable on the Show series. Report abuse. I use this to watch football on iFollow. However after about an hour of streaming the app crashes saying there is an error. I then have to refresh the page and wait for it to reload which results in me missing some of the action. I have even missed goals. It has a lot of old a new series on aswell and old and new movies, I love it.
Quite decent browser and great with the Amazon fire. It is useful to access youtube. It is also useful for a number of other media sites on the web such as the German TV channels etc. Amazon Appstore Return Policy.
